We travel under a road bridge called Nursery Bridge. This is named after the goats which were housed here, rather than a children’s nursery!

After the bridge you can see the rock cages which help hold the cutting in place before Ponderosa Crossing. This used to be a camp site and one of our volunteer “Horace” used to work as a crossing keeper. He used to help ensure the safety of the crossing during the summer when the campsite was full of campers. His reward was a ride in the cab back to Swanage each evening, though sometimes it was a struggle to get him into the cab!
